Today we started out pretty early getting on all our winter coats and hats on and we walked from our hotel to Millennium Park. It was a pretty chilly day and the kids did really well walking so far. It was really neat to see all the buildings and stores. When we got to the park we saw the Cloud Gate, aka "The Bean". The kids loved looking at them selves in it and making all sorts of faces.
I love this one because you can see our family and then the buildings in the back ground.
After we visited "The Bean" we walked across the street to get some hot chocolate to warm up, before we walked to the Field Museum.
These were some big cups of hot chocolate!
The Field Museum was So Big, we didn't know where to start. There was so many people there.
We decided to shrink down to ant size and check out things under ground. Will got up close and personal with some kind of worm thing. There were a few things down there that Boston didn't like so he stayed by me most of the time.
The kids found some cicadas and sat in them.
Will, Addy and Boston checking out some insects.
We watched a 3D movie of mammoths.
The boys being silly
We walked through an Egyptian exhibit
Then we walked through Native American things and also got to go into a lodge that would have housed about 20 or more people.
Addy and Carter on one of the beds in the lodge
They had all these different things that would have been used at that time.
This is a picture from the second floor looking out over the lobby
The dinosaurs were very cool
You can start to see my belly, and Oh no a dinosaur is attacking Carter! We spent all day at the museum and every ones legs were hurting so we got a cab back to our hotel. After we walked all that way I wanted to see how far it was and it ended up being almost 4 miles! No wonder our legs and feet hurt at the end of the day.
After we got back from the Field Museum we went around to a bunch of different restaurants but they all had over an hour wait, so we finally went to the Rain Forest Cafe and we only had to wait a few minutes. While we waited we had fun in the store trying on different hats and and playing with toys.
These guys have such silly faces!
For dessert we got a chocolate volcano and it had sparklers, the kids thought it was really cool!
Even with all five of us eating the ice cream and chocolate cake this is all we could do, but it was SO good!
