Our Trip

Tuesday we left on the ferry to cross over into New York and drove to the old Forge Campground. We all got so dirty and the kids were worse. The first night we were there we were all sitting by the camp fire and it was starting to get dark, and about 10 feet away from us I saw a black bear. I hurried and stood up and quickly told everyone to get into the car. The kids started to freak out and Will and his dad went out there with lights and were yelling around. They didn't see anything so we went back out and when Will was taking the garbage down he saw one of the workers and asked him how often they saw bears, he told Will about every 10 minutes. That night Will and I were on high alert all night. You could hear snorts and things around the camp. Then we heard trucks running the bears out. The next morning we found out it was a mommy bear and her two cubs. From then on I was ok with the kids being as loud as they wanted to keep the bears away.

Camping

We went camping at Old Forge campground in New York, in the Adirondacks mountains. We were hoping for warm weather, but ended up with wet and cold. We still had a great time fishing, hiking using the canoes and just being together. When we were in the canoes Boston was so tired that he fell asleep, it was very peace full out there. When it was raining we would sit under the awning and play old maid. Will and Carter found some crayfish under some rocks and when Carter picked up one it pinched his finger. It was really beautiful there.

Camping and water park

On our last day of camping, while we were taking everything down, Addy and Carter caught frogs with grandpa and they were very proud of them. After we got everything packed up we went to Water Safari which was just down the street. When we got there the weather was kind of cold and wet it was about 60 degrees. Addy and Carter stayed in the kids area with grandpa and Will and I took Boston and took turns going doing the big slides. The park was a lot of fun, it had all the water slides and then it also had a circus and lots of amusement rides. We were all very tired and cold at the end of the day, but we had fun.

Last Bike ride with Grandpa Cobell

We took one last bike ride with grandpa Cobell before he left, down the bike trail into Colchester. It was such a beautiful night for it. Grandpa got Addy a new cool bike for her birthday. She loves that thing and wants to ride it everywhere. Thank you Grandpa for her bike. We had such a wonderful time with grandpa and were sad to see him go. It was so nice to see family. We love you grandpa!
