Christmas Party

Last night was our ward Christmas party, and we had a great time. The Primary did the Nativity, Addy was a Shepherd, and Carter was a cow. It was really cute. Carter did not want to play the part of a cow, but Will persuaded him to do it, if I would not take any pictures, so he agreed. My friend on the other hand did not say she wouldn't take a picture. The kids were so excited for Santa to come. In the malls the kids kept seeing Santa and so they would ask which one is the real Santa? We told them the one that would be at the church is the real Santa, because who wants to pay $15 at the lowest price to sit on Santa's lap at the mall. Addy asked for craft stuff, and Carter asked for a little puppy. I think that Addy will get the craft stuff but Carter is out of luck with the puppy. Our condo does not let us have a dog, but hopefully when we move in 1 1/2 years we could get one. Anyone have any ideas on what to say to a kid that can't have what he wants for Christmas? Boston was not having anything to do with Santa, and it was so funny. Poor little guy! It was so nice to have a day with Will and the family.

Get him a stuffed animal one or one of the little rob pets. Esp. if he did not specifically ask for a live one. WE got Annika a robo cat around that age and she was just as happy with that.

Does your condo allow hamsters. WE got our kids one last year when our townhouse required an extra deposit or a dog or cat. The kids have fun playing with him, but he doesn't have to be walked. And if no one wants to play with him for a couple days its no biggie as long as he gets fed.

Clayton asked for something that I wasn't able to find so I just told him that Santa wasn't giving them out to kids under 7 because they were too dangerous but he could ask again in two years (a total lie, but I had to think of something, and hopefully by the time he's 7 he will have forgotten all about it).

If you aren't above lying to your kids you could go with something like that. Just say that Santa won't bring a puppy until Boston is (insert whatever age here) because he might pull the puppy's tail or something.

Carter agreeing to do dress up like a cow as long as no one took his picture reminds me of the time last January when he dressed up like Spider Man and didn't want any pictures taken. After I showed him how cool he looked, he didn't mind so much. :) What a character!
